GRR Review Full Hearts Series Boxed Set (Books 1-3) by MJ Summers

It's hard to review book sets as they are separate novels, but I will try to review them separately. Overall, this romance set by MJ Summers shows slightly cliche plotting yet the ability to deliver raw emotional scenes was definitely good.

Break In Two: Clarie ran off from Seattle to answer a chef wanted job ad in Colorado because her boyfriend traded her in for a 10 year younger hostess. There, she found the hottest guy ever: Cole Mitchell, the boss of a guest ranch. They should keep it professional, but they can't keep their hands off each other. But Cole comes with his own baggage: a leggy brunette called Gabriela. When both of their ex's came calling... things look dark indeed for this unlikely couple.

This romance managed to mix in all the typical plot devices, like hot tub, cowboys, boss/employee, as well as surprise baby, evil ex who wants back in for the money, and , disapproving family, and more. But it was quite competently mixed. 4/5

Don't Let Go: A bit of sappy love story between Ben and Alicia, with a series of flashback from when they were young kids to present day when they're married and still having hot sex. This one while charming, was not very dramatic. Call it 3/5

Breaking Love: Megan Sullivan has a 6-year old son Elliot and a no-good ex-husband who got addicted to painkillers and booze when his MLB career went kaput. She visits Paris for some time off and there she ran into Luc Chevalier, a man who dug himself out of nothing, and became a wealthy man. Luc, due to his family upbringing, cannot see himself in love, yet secretly he despairs of his loneliness. When he ran into Megan having a good time in his club, he felt a connection he had never felt, and he managed to draw out the passionate and lively Megan that had been buried for years and they had a passionate affair in the City Of Lights. But soon Megan will have to go back... and Luc had a secret admirer... His personal assistant, who swore to "protect him"... even from his heart.

This story, again, is full of typical romance plot devices such as accidental pregnancy, ex that had moved on, secret interfering admirer, sick parent, and so on. However, the darkest hour here and resolution required a "change of heart" that really made no sense, which ruined the ending, IMHO, for me. 3.5 /5

Breaking Clear: Harper Young (who got Megan to Paris in Book 2: Breaking Love) was living the life of fashionista as art director of Style magazine when her father had a major injury. When she asked to work from home, she was summarily dismissed due to office politics. With no career, she headed back home in a moving truck and got reacquainted with her childhood crush: Evan Donovan, her "new" next door neighbor, and the town's housebuilder. Evan always was interested in his best friend's little sister Harper, but she left the town and him behind. Now that Harper is back, and trying to fit into the small town life, he will make sure she does not get away this second time, unless... it's for her own good.

This book, again, managed to throw in all the romance plot devices, such as inconvenient timing, sick parent, and more. The ending, however, seems to relied too much on inconvenient timing and a ton of bad luck to create Darkest Hour. For example, he tried to visit her, but she had already resigned, but the receptionist was told to NEVER discuss her absence under threat of termination, so he was given some non-sensical excuse, and he took that as evidence that she does not want to see him. That would be pretty insecure thinking, wouldn't it? I can give this 4 / 5

So overall score? 4/5
