GRR Review Delta: Retribution by Cristin Harber

Delta: Retribution only clocked in at just over 100 pages, but it does pack a bit of plot where two very different people come together with their own demons.

Trace is in a bad place after the death of his twin and was about to be drummed out of elite Navy SEALs. Only being in Titan Group's Team Delta did he get more action. Marlena was hiding and took a chance at a one-night stand from her usual job and spent a very memorable night with Trace, but she ran away before the morning after giving a false name, and she always had self-worth issues. Later, Marlena's research became potential weapons and she was kidnapped by South American goons and Titan sent in Team Delta to retrieve her and brought Trace back to Marlena, and they resumed where they left off, as they managed to heal each other and survive yet ANOTHER kidnapping attempt, and perhaps figure out some retribution.

The problem is both characters' psychological issues feel a bit overblown. Trace was somehow obsessed about retrieving his twin's dog tags (which wasn't found amongst the IED wrecked vehicle) while Marlena was constantly manipulated and put down psychologically by her father despite living separately from him. The bad guys also are just too "flat" bad. At least pace was interesting and military details feel right.

Category: romantic suspense

Primary Plot: rescuer falls for the rescuee (they had a one-night stand before), then she's kidnapped again...

Tropes: kidnapping, reunion, one-night stand, protector, woman in peril, scars

Overall Rating: 4/5
