GRR Review: Her Heart for the Asking by Lisa Mondello

Her Heart for the Asking by Lisa Mondello is a contemporary western romance that was sweet in the right places, but both characters are a bit shallow, and the twist in the middle had almost no impact.

Mandy left Texas when Beau Gentry broke her heart because he refused to make her a rodeo wife, knowing she's too good and too young for him. She went to work for her advertising mogul father, and was pushed to excel, but got little love. Years later, her mother requested her to go back to Texas to visit her uncle, and Beau Gentry was there to take her to the ranch. Beau wanted two things out of life: rodeo, and Mandy, but she was too young. Now that she's back, what is Beau willing to do to win her back, and will Mandy let him back into her heart?

Other than a little accidental mud wrestling (in a Texas gully washer) and some steamy kisses the book is pretty much PG rated and may be even suitable for YA. The characters do come across as a little on the shallow side, and the twist was almost wasted. I found this romance is, at best, "lukewarm".
